The best time for safaris in Tanzania is during the dry season from June to October, when animals gather around water sources and vegetation is sparse for easier viewing. However, safaris can be enjoyed year-round, with the green season (November to May) offering lush landscapes and fewer crowds.
Essential items include: neutral-colored clothing (khaki, olive, beige), comfortable walking shoes, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, binoculars, a camera with zoom lens, and a light jacket for early morning game drives. We recommend layering as temperatures can vary throughout the day. Avoid bright colors and dark blue/black (which can attract tsetse flies). We provide binoculars and field guides on every safari.
